Double post for importance!!!

So I played on the machine today and the lag is still pretty bad. My last round, I played the marathon "Driven" and I failed on Energizer cause lag + boomerang + Robot = disaster lmao.

So if Ross actually cleaned out the machine, it didn't work lol. So I'm thinking we should all get together sometime and go and clean it out ourselves and see if we can fix the lag issue.

I actually didn't have any problems with the pads surprisingly! :O They seemed to respond well and I don't think I got any pad errors (other than a few greats but those were from the lag (Aron was standing right beside me and he swears to god that I was hitting accurately and I got a great right when there was a lag spike ))

So I guess there is some good news and some bad news from tonight! :D

EDIT!!!

I forgot to say that the infamous Jane has another score on the machine..... DA ROOTS!!!!!

You know, despite everyone's claims that it definitely isn't them, Jane certainly had strange enough timing to never ever be seen by any of us and only started putting scores on the machine again once it got bad enough that the rest of us decided not to bother playing. It's a mystery as to why she would start playing again when the machine is in such poor condition.

Yes, but those scores have likely been on the machine for far longer than a week. Not saying it is or isn't Mike, but no one has been checking the machine on a regular basis, and as far as I know, Kyle has been the first person to play on the machine in a couple weeks. The Jane thing is getting pretty old at this point anyways, it's obviously somebody in the community and there are only a couple people who are at "her" skill level (at least in terms of FA).

UPDATE!

Gave Ross a call last night and confirmed that he hadn't done anything to dust out the back of the machine, but he said I could give it a shot.

I took my lunch hour today to drive over to CC8 and inspect the motherboard.
Most of the board appeared remarkably clean aside from the main cpu fan/heatsink, which was completely the opposite.

I removed heatsink and fan, and both pieces were caked over in a very thick (considering that it's dust) rubbery film. This stuff also proved to be resistant to compressed air - I had to scrape it around with a key and then use the compressed air to blow away the loosened bits. After the scrubbing, I replaced the thermal paste on the CPU and put it all back together.

I managed to play one lag-free game that included Energizer and Flower Forever (usually have a very good chance of inducing lag even after a reboot), but I'm optimistic at best right now, since the real tests will be with two players.

That's exactly the problem Brent lol, last time we cleaned it out when Dan, Aaron and I did it, it was caked all over the fans in the back of the machine and we almost had to just scrub it off, although there was alot of loose dust coming off of it :P

Thanks Lawrence for talking with Ross and driving to CC during your break and cleaning it out! <3

Machine is doing good in the sense that it can now handle 2 players! So that's a success. I've noticed a slight amount of FPS dropping but Lawrence found it unnoticeable. I found the 1P left arrow to be the worst it's ever been but the rest seemed to be okay.
